Institute of Engineering Technology and School of Mathematics and Physics Convene Cross-Disciplinary Project Launch Meeting and Party-Building Joint Conference

On September 15, the Institute of Engineering Technology, USTB (hereinafter referred to as "IET") and the School of Mathematics and Physics, USTB convened a cross-disciplinary project launch meeting and a Party-building joint conference. Niu Heng, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Mathematics and Physics; He Anrui, Party Committee Secretary of IET; Peng Xiaoyan, an organizational commissioner at the division-chief level and deputy Party Committee secretary; Li Ying, deputy director of the Institute of Scienceand Technology, USTB; Liu Yu, deputy dean of the School of Mathematics and Physics; and Shao Jian and Xiao Xiong, deputy directors of IET, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Bai Yunfei, deputy Party Committee secretary and deputy dean of the School of Mathematics and Physics.

Niu Heng noted that the School of Mathematics and Physics has always remained rooted in its foundational disciplines and adhered to high-quality Party building to lead scientific research innovation and talent cultivation. This cross-disciplinary project cooperation is a key measure to break down the barriers between basic research and engineering application; the School will give full play to the supporting advantages of its mathematics and physics disciplines and make every effort to ensure the steady progress of all cross-disciplinary projects. At the same time, the School will use Party-building joint construction as a bond to deepen the linkage between Party branches and the exchange between faculty and students, and translate the outcomes of Party-building work into endogenous driving forces for research breakthroughs and talent cultivation.

He Anrui noted that IET has long been committed to engineering technology R&D and achievement transformation, and possesses a solid engineering practice platform and advantages in industrial implementation, which complement the theoretical strengths of the mathematics and physics disciplines. This joint construction cooperation precisely aligns with the strategic direction of the university's disciplinary development and research breakthroughs. Relying on its engineering research resources, IET will fully cooperate in implementing the research on the ground. In the future, the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation, consolidate the foundation of Party building, broaden the paths of collaboration, and work together to overcome key core technology challenges in the industry.

On behalf of the university's Institute of Science and Technology, Li Ying addressed the meeting. She pointed out that the cross-integration of mathematics and physics disciplines with engineering technology is an important breakthrough point for research innovation. She hoped that the two sides would take this project launch as an opportunity to continuously deepen resource sharing and mutual complementarity of strengths, ensure the efficient use of project funding, unleash the momentum of research innovation, and promote the cross-disciplinary cooperation to yield results early and yield good results.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views and conducted discussions on cross-disciplinary projects and the experience of Party-building joint construction, and unveiled a plaque for the "IET–School of Mathematics and Physics Cross-Disciplinary Frontier Technology Joint Tackling Party Member Commando Team."
