On January 30, the 13th Member Congress of China Iron and Steel Industry Association (CISA) was held in Beijing. At the congress, the list of advanced organizations, outstanding individuals and major achievements in scientific and technological work during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period was officially released. Shao Jian, Vice Dean of IET, was awarded the honorary titles of "Young Pioneer in Technological Innovation of the Iron and Steel Industry" and "Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker in the Iron and Steel Industry"; the "Asymmetric Detection of Hot Rolling Operation and Full-Line Automatic Correction Control System" led by Xu Dong, Deputy Director of the Testing Technology Department, was selected into the Top 10 Demonstration Scenarios for Digital Transformation of the Iron and Steel Industry. These achievements fully demonstrate the important contribution of IET to promoting the high-quality development of the industry and serving the construction of a manufacturing power.

Shao Jian is a researcher, Vice Dean and doctoral supervisor of IET.USTB, and Deputy General Manager of DRI,USTB. He is the winner of the 15th Metallurgical Youth Science and Technology Award, a review expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the China Association for Science and Technology, and a special expert in intelligent manufacturing of CISA, Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Lianyuan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and JianlongGroup.Long engaged in front-line work, he is committed to the research on multi-field and multi-scale rolling intelligent modeling, cross-process and cross-business quality intelligent control technology, and intelligent factory construction. His achievements have been applied in iron and steel enterprises such as POSCO (South Korea), Baowu Group, Anshan Iron and Steel Group, Nanjing Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Hunan Iron and Steel Group, and Jianlong Group, achieving remarkable economic benefits. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, his achievements helped many iron and steel enterprises be selected as leading intelligent factories and excellent intelligent factories.He has presided over more than 60 projects, including national major science and technology projects, national natural science foundation projects, provincial and ministerial major special projects, and industrialization promotion projects, with a total project fund exceeding 500 million yuan. He has obtained 25 authorized invention patents and published 2 monographs. He has won 8 first prizes and 3 second prizes of provincial, ministerial or industry association awards.
Leading Team of the Top 10 Demonstration Scenarios for Digital Transformation of the Iron and Steel Industry

Through the research on full-process multi-sensor fusion shape and position perception, the research team led by Researcher Xu Dong has realized millimeter-level online detection of slab plane shape, warpage state and strip deviation. Based on the asymmetric elastoplastic deformation theory of rolling and the mechanism-data fusion driven modeling method, the team has formed the full-process automatic control technology for asymmetric strip shape, realizing fully automatic and unmanned control of sickle bend and warpage. As a result, manual leveling intervention in finishing rolling has been reduced by 85%, tail flicking and rolling breakage rate has been decreased by 80%, and wedge hit rate has been increased by 20%, greatly improving the quality of asymmetric strip shape, production stability, and the level of low-human and unmanned production control.
