Recently, the Information Technology Department of IET,USTBorganized a quarterly review meeting for all QMS projects. Hosted by Li Wanhong, Director of the Intelligent Quality Division, the meeting gathered over 30 technical backbones to conduct system demonstrations, review project progress, analyze bottlenecks, discuss optimization solutions and consolidate cross-project collaboration momentum to guarantee steady implementation and efficient delivery of ongoing projects.

Project leads Yang Yiming, Li Xiaoming, Peng Qi, Fan Binbin and Lu Hao delivered presentations on phased achievements and core on-site challenges via live system demonstrations. To address technical difficulties, the team tackled practical pain points including inconsistent factory processes, complex on-site environments, domestic information innovation adaptation and customized special business logic. They itemized and analyzed key bottlenecks such as non-standard data governance, insufficient adaptive judgment rules, single-dimensional defect analysis and cumbersome operation & maintenance workflows, detailed targeted optimization plans, clarified acceptance deadlines and upgrading paths for each project, and established cross-post coordination mechanisms. Through cross-project benchmarking and review, the team filled internal capability gaps and continuously improved professional literacy and project management capacity.
In terms of product upgrading, the team consistently aligned with real frontline production demands to conduct scheme research and version iteration for comprehensive QMS system optimization. It completed deployment of basic modules, customized development of judgment logic for special production processes, and systematic function rollout including 8D reports and quality cost calculation. Meanwhile, MSA analysis tools and AI quality prediction intelligent capabilities were embedded to make the system more compatible with segmented steel production processes, practical for on-site operation and user-friendly.

The five key projects reviewed at the meeting vividly reflect the high-quality development of IET,USTB’s QMS team in the first half of 2026. Since the start of the year, the team has continuously polished its product portfolio, optimized implementation workflows and improved on-site service capabilities, achieving breakthroughs in both market expansion and project delivery with nine key projects launched, covering mainstream steel categories including plain carbon steel, wide heavy plate, rail beam, medium plate and special steel. The review integrated scattered practical experience and problem-solving methods from individual projects into reusable standardized solutions, forming a virtuous closed loop of "project practice – problem review – experience accumulation – capability upgrading" to consolidate the institute’s leading position in the field of steel quality digitalization. Going forward, the team will implement meeting outcomes, closely track acceptance deadlines, strengthen cross-post coordination, accelerate experience reuse and function iteration, and deliver all projects with high quality via a complete product system, professional technical services and efficient execution, continuously empowering digital quality transformation of the steel industry.
