On May 22, the award ceremony for the 2025 "Touching USTB Figure" was held at USTB lecture hall. The Digital Twin Project Team of IET,USTB for Indonesia IMIP Park received the honor for its outstanding contributions to the Belt and Road overseas projects, fully embodying USTB researchers’ mission of serving the nation through technological innovation and intelligent manufacturing export.

As USTB’s first corporate-level general contracting digital twin project overseas and a landmark Belt and Road project for a national-level overseas economic and trade cooperation zone, the team was stationed at the IMIP Industrial Park in Indonesia for 18 months. It overcame key technical challenges including ultra-large-scenario modeling covering 120 square kilometers, massive data governance, cross-business coordination and intelligent decision support, and built a full-park digital twin intelligent operation system filling the industry gap for corporate-level digital twin platforms in large process industrial parks. The team delivered robust Chinese technology to support China-Indonesia industrial capacity cooperation and digital transformation of the industrial park.

Moving forward, the project team will take this award as a new starting point to deepen R&D in intelligent manufacturing for process industries. It will drive research outputs through project implementation, cultivate outstanding engineering talents with international vision via practical engineering experience, strengthen USTB’s brand influence in intelligent manufacturing globally, and write a new chapter for universities serving national strategies through solid achievements.

For eighteen months far from hometowns, they fought day and night on Indonesia’s humid red soil, overcoming technical hurdles of ultra-large park modeling and multi-source data integration to build a top-tier overseas digital twin platform that fills industry technological gaps, enabling a digital "heart" to beat steadily in Indonesia.
