National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology

Established in November 1996, the National Engineering Research Center for Advanced Rolling Technology (hereinafter referred to as “NERCAR”) is one of the first national engineering research centers established by the National Development and Reform Commission. NERCAR aims to “transform scientific and technological achievements into integrated technology and engineering, to produce comprehensive technology and equipment that can be used by enterprises, and realize local development of key steel production technology.” It has achieved exceptional results in the fields of automatic rolling control system, complete rolling technology and equipment, metal material development and performance optimization, online surface detection technology for materials, and other new rolling techniques, technologies and products. In 2012, it won the “Outstanding Contribution Award”-the highest honor bestowed upon national engineering research centers.
